Nita is a cute baby bear ready to be yours!

MATERIALS
  • DK or light worsted weight yarn in colors light pink and brown
  • 2.50mm crochet hook or size needed to match your yarn
  • Stuffing
  • 10mm safety eyes
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Brown yarn
1. 6 sc in magic ring

3. (1 sc, inc) x6 [18]
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 [24]

7. (5 sc, inc) x6 [42]
8. (6 sc, inc) x6 [48]
9. (7 sc, inc) x6 [54]
10-18. sc in each st around [54]
19. (7 sc, dec) x6 [48]

Insert the safety eyes between rounds 15-16 with 9 sts apart. Stuff the head firmly. Leave a long tail for sewing.

MUZZLE

Brown yarn

4-6. sc in each st around [18]

Insert the safety nose between rounds 2-3. Stuff the muzzle lightly. Leave a long tail for sewing.

EARS

Brown yarn
1. 8 sc in magic ring
2. inc x8 [16]
3-6. sc in each st around [16]
Leave a long tail for sewing. Make 2.

LEGS

Brown yarn
1. 6 sc in magic ring
2. inc x6 [12]
3. (1 sc, inc) x6 [18]
4-6. sc in each st around [18]
7. 5 sc, 4 dec, 5 sc [14]
8-10. sc in each st around [14]
11. (2 sc, inc) x4, 2 sc [18]
12-14. sc in each st around [18]
15. 14 sc. Stop.
Make 2. Hide the yarn tail on one leg. You’ll join both legs to form the body. The legs must be facing forward, so I only crocheted 14 sts on row 15 to make sure the legs were looking straight.

BODY

16. Continue on 2nd leg, ch 3, join with a sc in the 7th st of first leg and then sc in each st(18), sc in each ch(3), sc in each st on 2nd leg(18), sc in each ch(3) [42]
Make sure the legs are facing forward when you join them, if not, make that first sc on the first leg one st before or after.
Stuff the legs firmly.

18-25. sc in each st around [48]
26. (6 sc, dec) x6 [42]

28. (5 sc, dec) x6 [36]
29-31. sc in each st around [36]

Stuff the body firmly.

ARMS

Brown yarn
1. 6 sc in magic ring

8-15. sc in each st around [12]
Stuff the arms firmly. Fold the last round in half and sew the sts together to close the opening. Leave a long tail for sewing. Make 2.

TAIL

Brown yarn
1. 8 sc in magic ring
2. inc x8 [16]
3-4. sc in each st around [16]
5. (2 sc, dec) x4 [12]
Stuff lightly. Leave a long tail for sewing.

FLOWER

Pink yarn
Make a magic ring. ch 2, 2 dc, slst into the ring. Repeat ** until you get 5 petals. Leave a long tail for sewing.

DRESS

Pink yarn
At the end of each row, always ch 2 and turn the work.
1. Ch 32, dc in the 3rd ch from your hook and in each ch until the end [30]
2. (1 dc, inc-dc) x15 [45]
3. (2 dc, inc-dc) x15 [60]
4. 8 dc, skip 14 sts, 16 dc, skip 14 sts, 8 dc [32]
The skipped sts form the openings for each arm.
5-6. dc in each st around [32]
7. inc-dc in each st around [64]
Slst on top of the 1st dc to join. Now you’ll work in rounds, always slst on top of the 1st dc to join and ch 2 to start a new round.
8. (1 dc, inc-dc) x32 [96]
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail.

ASSEMBLY

• Sew the ears on top of the head.
• Sew the muzzle between round 16-21 of the head.
• Sew the head to the body.
• Sew the arms to the body
• Sew the tail to the back of the body.
• Sew the flower to the bear’s ear.
• Embroider the face details, such as the cheeks and the white of the eyes.
• (Optional) Sew the back opening of the dress after putting on the bear.
